I remember being a huge Simpsons fan in the 90s and early 2000s. I knew entire episodes almost by heart! While those days have passed, the Nike SB Dunk High Marge Simpson remains one of my favorite dunks to date!
These initially released as an Asia exclusive, although pairs obviously made it over to the US. The inspiration is clear even if Nike didn’t explicitly say there is a connection – the colorway is spot on reminiscent of Marge’s hair, skin tone and dress color. These are one of those bright dunks that in a way to me symbolize one of the last super colorful kicks to come out during a wave of popularity for these types of colorways.
How are the materials?
The materials are about on par with other gold box releases. These came out during a heyday for Nike SB when pretty much all the releases were of decent quality and starting to ramp up in sales and popularity. That said, the leather on these is really nice, and the suede is ok too! I’m not going to say these are the butteriest SB’s you’ll come across, but the materials definitely win out over any new SB release in recent memory.
How do they fit?
The Nike SB Dunk High Marge Simpson fit true to size for me and are fairly comfortable. These are really about as comfy as any SB was before they put in the stiffer materials and newer shape. Speaking of shape, these definitely keep an older shape about them, mostly noticeable around the toebox and eyelets – you get more of a pointier sloped toe instead of the shoe actually getting wider around the toe. I personally prefer this look and don’t think it impacts comfort at all. I kind of wish Nike SB would go back at least to this quality level if not something from even earlier in the Dunk timeline.
